The Creston Valley Thunder Cats are pleased to announce the return of the team’s popular hockey school and junior prep camp, which will run from Aug. 17-21 at the Creston and District Community Complex.

The Thunder Cats hockey school includes daily sessions for hockey 1-4 and atom (birth years 2005-2008) and peewee and bantam (2001-2004) skaters/goaltenders in the afternoon with a focus on fun and skill development, while midget and junior-aged players will take to the ice for a prep camp in the evening that consists of high-tempo drills and scrimmages.

Hockey school and junior prep camp registration for all age groups can be completed on the team’s website under the Events tab.

All on-ice sessions will be led by Thunder Cats head coach Jeff Dubois, and hockey school sessions will also include instruction from current Thunder Cats players.

“The Thunder Cats hockey school is a perfect opportunity for players to work on their skating, shooting and puck skills in a fun environment,” said Dubois. “It’s a great chance for players who haven’t been on the ice during the summer to get a head start on the season, and for those who have been working hard to further sharpen their skills.

“The junior prep sessions will mirror the competitive demands of a junior or rep tryout setting for players who are preparing to compete at those types of camps.”

Registration in the Thunder Cats hockey school is $175 for five 75-minute icetimes (2-3:15 p.m. for H1-4/atom and 3:30-4:45 p.m. for peewee/bantam).

The junior prep camp includes four 90-minute sessions (7-8:30 p.m.) for $175.
