The Kimberley Dynamiters have been active with the KIJHL trade deadline drawing near.
Nitros general manager Dave Smith confirms the team has acquired G Brody Nelson (1995) from the Kamloops Storm in exchange for future considerations.
In 24 games this season split between the Columbia Valley Rockies and Kamloops Storm, Nelson is 7-16-0 with a 3.59 goals-against average (GAA) and 0.885 save percentage (SP).
According to Smith, Nelson will join the team in Golden in time for tonight’s tilt with the Rockets. He is expected to start between the pipes, giving rest to starting goaltender Tyson Brouwer.
In conjunction, Smith confirms the team has released G Liam McBain (1997) and F Austin Hancherow (1995).
In nine games with the Nitros, McBain was 2-6-0 with a 4.01 GAA and 0.857 SP.
Hancherow, a native of Calgary, posted four goals and 16 points in 36 games.
More to come.
