The Creston Valley Thunder Cats are hosting their seventh annual fundraising golf tournament, which will be played Aug. 29 at the Creston Golf Club, and players are still welcome to register and participate.
In addition to helping out the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League team, the tournament will again have one-third of the proceeds donated to Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta, where many Creston families stay while children undergo treatment at Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. One of the team’s billet families spent a great deal of time there over the past several months while their seven-year-old daughter, Izzy Nixon, was being treated for a brain tumour.
“Participants of the past tournaments have commented on what a good time they had and are excited to participate again,” said chair Kevin Smith in a letter to local businesses.
The event will include a best-ball scramble tournament, a catered dinner, and silent and live auctions.
Registration is $65 for Creston Golf Club members and $75 for non-members through the Creston Golf Club pro shop, required by Aug. 26.
