Earl King’s rink continued its dominance in Haney Masters’ curling action, improving to 6-0 at Golden Ear’s Winter Club on Wednesday.
Along with third Al Goldstack, second Hugh McIntyre and lead Bob Cocking, the King rink defeated William Gardner 7-5 to remain in first-place in the senior curling league.
Close behind in second spot is the Peter England rink, with a 5-1 record. England’s rink defeated Wayne Chin 8-3. Behind some accurate curling by Max Albrechtsen, Jack Flottorp and Dutchie Kieisterlee, England steered his rink to a walk-off victory after only five ends.
Meanwhile, the first-half champion Jack Stadel rink, representing the Haney masters league, finished fourth in the Fraser Valley Inter-Club playoffs held at Peace Arch Curling Club last week.
With Bob MacKay at third, Bob Cocking at second and England at lead, the Stadel rink started strong and won their first three games, but dropped their last two in the playoffs.
Haney Masters’ Curling League action continues throughout January and February every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Golden Ears.
