After working hard to overcome an early two-goal deficit, the North Okanagan Knights couldn’t hold the lead.
The Sicamous Eagles scored twice in the final 12 minutes to post a 5-4 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League win over the Knights Sunday afternoon at the Nor-Val Sports Centre in Armstrong.
The Knights took on the Steam in Summerland Tuesday night.
Devyn Myck scored the winner for the Eagles with 7:11 left in the game. The marker came nearly five minutes after Nathan Grieve tied the contest with an unassisted marker.
Rookies Sean Emmerson (fourth) and Nathan Washington (third) tied and gave the Knights the lead, respectively, at 2:09 and 3:01 of the final frame.
Korwin Shewchuk opened the game scoring for Sicamous (15-12-1-0) just two minutes in, and Darien Blight made it 2-0 Birds late in the first period.
The Knights (4-22-1-2) scored two powerplay markers in the second from Austin Fournier (eighth) and player of the game Jordan Passmore (team leading 10th), both goals set up by Zackari Andrusiak and Logan Geefs.
The markers were sandwiched around a Shewchuk goal for the Eagles, who led 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Both teams ended up with 31 shots on goal with Mitch Profeit taking the loss for North Okanagan.
The Knights were 2-for-10 with the man advantage, while Sicamous went 0-8.
North Okanagan visits the Princeton Posse Friday night before returning to host Summerland Sunday (3 p.m.) at the Nor-Val Sports Centre.
