Brendan Jost recorded a pair of goals as the North Okanagan Knights soared past the Columbia Valley Rockies 6-2 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League action Friday night at Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena in Invermere.
Trailing 2-1 early in the second period, North Okanagan (16-23-1-1) responded with four unanswered goals in support of netminder Chris Hurry (25 saves). Kurtis Hagen recorded the winner at 12:08 of the second period. Call-up Brett Hawrys earned an assist on Ben Greenaway’s tying goal.
The Knights are 3-1-1 in the new year, and head coach Sylvain Leone wants the team to keep building towards playoffs.
“After our 10-5 start, we started to believe the press clippings. Our team has to remember what gave us that success to begin with,” he said.
The Knights faced the Creston Valley Thunder Cats and Spokane Braves Saturday and Sunday respectively. They end a four-game road schedule Wednesday against the Sicamous Eagles.
