The North Okanagan Knights reeled off their third consecutive win in 2013, icing the Kelowna Chiefs 4-3 in overtime Friday night at Nor-Val Sports Centre.
Colton Thibault capped a two-goal night by providing the OT winner, assisted by Mat Lambert.
D-man Dylan Bowen impressed in his Kootenay International Junior Hockey League debut, earning first star for the 24-11-1-2 Knights. The Lumby product, acquired earlier this week from the BCHL Salmon Arm SilverBacks, set up the first of Matty Saharchuk’s two goals (16th, 17th) on a second-period powerplay.
Bryce Koch (13th), a former Knight, put the 23-13-1-1 Chiefs up 1-0 after one period, but North Okanagan replied with three unanswered goals in the second frame, starting with Thibault’s ninth. Trailing 3-1 after 40 minutes, the Chiefs forced OT with singles from Kirk Reeve (4th) and Colton Dachwitz (1st).
The Knights visited the Revelstoke Grizzles Saturday, and host the Nelson Leafs today (2 p.m.) at Nor-Val.
