The North Okanagan Super 8 Legends grounded the Penticton Heat 7-3 to open the Midget Rock The House Midget Lacrosse Tournament Friday night at Hassen Memorial Arena.
The Super 8 crew, playing in the B division, fell behind 2-0 early before Dawson Boyce replied 11 minutes into the first period. Penticton responded just four minutes later to close out the period.
The Legends come out with a different attitude in the second period with Sean Howard and Seth Waterstreet supplying snipes to make it 3-3 after two frames.
The Legends stepped it up another notch win the third and got goals from rookies Seth Gordy and Sam Knox (game MVP) along with Dakota Campen and Drayden Harshenin.
Other assists came from Reed Cashato and Nick Mann. Knox was honoured for his relentless work ethic at both ends of the floor leading the Legends defensively.
On the A side of the tournament, North Okanagan toppled Chilliwack 11-2 at Nor-Val Sports Centre behind hat tricks from Brett Olsen and Connor Webb.
Brady Marzocco (2), Stephane Richard, Jake Pelletier and Mason Pool also scored. Kayden Beauregard and Jake Pelletier each bagged three assists. The Legends got solid physical games from Mason McLennan and Riley Swiscoski.
Penticton clipped Surrey 6-5 in the other A division game Friday at Hassen.
In Thursday league play, the Super 8 Legends lost 10-5 to the Shuswap Outlaws at Hassen Arena.
Stefan Wells, Howard, Cameron Work, Chase Bronson and Brody Drydyk provided the Legend goals. Campen earned two helpers for the Legends.
Super 8 goaltender Jordie Scherck played outstanding to keep the Legends in the game.
The finals go today with the A championship at 1 p.m. at Nor-Val and the B gold-medal tilt at 1 p.m. at Hassen.
There are eight teams in the Rock The House affair.
