Kodiaks clobber Abbotsford Pilots, 8-1

The result puts the Kodiaks at 70 points after 42 games (35 wins, seven losses), with playoffs starting just two games from now.

The Aldergrove Kodiaks clobbered the Abbotsford Pilots 8-1 at MSA Arena on Friday night.

It wasn’t close at any point in the game, as the Kodiaks were up 3-0 at the start of the second period, 5-0 at the start of the third and while the Pilots scored their only goal early in the third, the Kodiaks notched another three in the final frame for the win.

The Kodiaks also outshot the Pilots 48-28.

The result puts the Kodiaks at 70 points after 42 games (35 wins, seven losses). The Pilots are second place in the Harold Brittain conference but trail the Kodiaks with 52 points, followed by Ridge Meadows at 44 and Mission at 40.

Scoring for the Kodiaks were Matt Oliver (2), Quinncy Leroux (2, with one unassisted), Kurt Klimek, Kyle Bosko (unassisted), Ryleigh Anderson and Elijah Vilio (on power play).

Assists came from Klimek (2), Oliver, Davin Padgham, Bosko, Eric Callegari (2), Vilio, Arjan Cheema (2), Anderson and Derian White.

Kodiaks keeper Dawson Rodin turned away 27 of 28 shots on his goal, while Pilots keepers Jacob Crawford turned away 21 of 26 and Noah Giesbrecht turned away 19 of 22.

Kodiaks Oliver and Bosko were the game’s first and second stars, respectively.

The Kodiaks’ final two regular season games are Feb. 8 versus Richmond Sockeyes at Aldergrove Arena and Feb. 9 against Surrey Knights at North Surrey Rec Centre.
