The Aldergrove Kodiaks managed three out of a possible four points over the weekend, but still find themselves two points back of the final playoff berth in the PIJHL.
The Kodiaks downed the Squamish Wolf Pack 5-3 on Friday night, but lost a valuable point in the shootout on Saturday, falling 2-1to the division-leading Abbotsford Pilots at MSA Arena in junior B hockey action.
In the victory, the Kodiaks erased a 3-1 second period deficit, getting two goals apiece from Eric McEwan, both on the power play, and Colton Precourt. Precourt’s second was into an empty net.
Jordan Pughe had Aldergrove’s other goal.
Against the Pilots, the game was scoreless in the third period before Brett Kolins put Abbotsford ahead. But Precourt tied things up with 6:29 remaining to get his team a valuable point.
In the shootout, Adam Rossi, Bradley Parker and Christopher Vinette all found the back of the net against Ross Baadsvik. But McEwan was the lone Kodiak out of four shooters to beat Cole Chreptyk.
The Pilots and Kodiaks will renew hostilities on Wednesday (Feb. 16) but after that, Aldergrove will be cheering on Abbotsford since the Pilots have two games against Mission, the team currently in the fourth and final playoff spot.
Aldergrove will finish the regular season against the Port Moody Black Panthers on Saturday night.
