The Kwalikum Secondary School Kondors senior girls volleyball team wrapped up a successful weekend at the Duncan Christian/Cowichan Secondary invitational.
KSS would reach the final of the tournament, taking on Credo Christian School (Langley). But they would fall short in a great finalé, 25-22 and 25-21.
Allie Proctor was named one of the two tournament MVPs, while Zoe Jacobsen was named tournament all-star.
With 16 teams in the tournament, the Kondors earned three tough wins in pool play to advance to the championship round.
In their first game, the Kondors went back and forth with Highland Secondary (Comox).
KSS would win two sets to one (25–12, 25–27, 15–12). The Kondors second match came against the Ladysmith 49ers. After dropping the first set 23-25, the Kondors won a close second set 25-23 and would go on to win the third and final set 15-10.
Playing against Queen Margaret’s School (Duncan) in their third match, the Kondors won in straight sets 25-7 and 25-5, earning first place in their pool.
In the quarterfinal match, the Kondors went up against Aspengrove (Nanaimo), earning another hard fought win after losing the first set 26-28, coming back to win the second and third sets 25-20 and 15-10.
The semi-final match-up saw the Kondors against Gulf Island, winning in straight sets 25-15 and 25-15.
