The Creston Curling Centre is almost through its peak season with the BC School Sports provincial playdowns occurring Feb. 19-21.
The Doyle rink from Smithers Secondary took first place in the boys division with a perfect record of 7-0. Second place went to the Chan rink from David Thompson in Vancouver with a 6-1 record, and the Bartlett rink from Grand Forks Secondary, representing the Kootenay zone, finished in third place at 5-2.
As for the girls, the Reese-Hansen Rink from Mt. Elizabeth Secondary in Kitimat took first place at 6-1, second was the Kootenays’ Buchy Rink from Selkirk Secondary in Kimberley at 6-2, and third was the Drexel Rink from Centennial in Coquitlam at 5-3.
It was a very exciting weekend with the best junior curlers in the province playing some great games. Creston did a great job hosting the event and the centre hopes to host many more like it in years to come.
League play is wrapping up in the next couple of weeks with playoffs beginning soon. The club’s wind-up dinner and awards night will take place March 21, capping off another successful season of Creston curling.
