Korol shines in Calgary

Vernon’s Jordan Korol helped the UBC Okanagan Junior Under 17 Heat go 4-0 in the Calgary Basketball Academy May Madness tournament last weekend.

Korol, who played last season for the VSS Panthers, pulled down 10 points and eight rebounds as the Heat opened with a 70-65 win over the CBA U16s. Hannah Friesen led the Heat with 23 points, 10 boards and eight boards.

Korol rung up a dozen points and eight rebounds as the Heat rallied to stop the CBA U15s 62-52 and then fired 10 points as the Heat grounded the CBA U17s 58-49.

The Heat brushed back the CBA U16/17s 65-48 in their last game Sunday with Korol supplying 12 points and eight rebounds.

Next up for the Heat is the SFU Spring Tip Off tourney, May 30-June 1.

The Heat U15 girls won two of three games in Calgary with Fulton’s Andie Kaneda draining 11 points and bagging five boards in the Heat’s 61-32 loss to the Calgary Selects.
