Kreutz shoots 70 in B.C. Amateur

Vernon’s Matthew Kreutz shot a 2-under 70 Tuesday in round 1 of the 114th B.C. Amateur Golf Tournament at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort in Qualicum Beach.

Kreutz, who just spent his first year of university playing for the Minot State Beavers, was in a share of 12th spot. Kreutz played his junior golf representing the Vernon and Spallumcheen Golf and Country Clubs. He is now working and playing out of Predator Ridge Golf Resort.

Former Vernonite Brady Stead, playing out of Royal Colwood of Victoria, carded a 72 and was in an eight-way tie for 26th.

Stead won the recent Johnston Meier Insurance Vancouver Open amateur title and placed sixth overall.

William Deck of Kelowna (The Harvest) and Roy Kang of North Vancouver (North Vancouver) both shot 66 Tuesday to share the lead by one stroke over Samuel Su of Surrey (Point Grey).
