The defending provincial champion Kwalikum Secondary School golf team opened the season with an easy win at the Qualicum Beach Memorial Tournament Friday afternoon.
The Kondors collectively posted a 295 score to beat their nearest rival, Shawnigan Lake, by 16 strokes and Dover by 34 strokes.
Setting the pace for the Kondors was Jake Lane, who shot an impressive 2-under-par 68. He shared the tournament’s top low-gross honour with Highland’s Secondary’s Nick Torry who also posted the same score.
Kayli Melissa of KSS was the top female low gross player, shooting an 84.
Aidan Goodfellow recorded the second best score for Kwalikum with a 71, followed by Max Kolb with 76.
Only the top four scores in each team were recorded to determine the results.
Kwalikum came first followed by Shawnigan Lake, Dover, Isfeld and Esquimalt.
The other members of the Kwalikum team were Duncan Cairns (80), Ward Noah (93), Matt Grimes (91), Megan O’Reilly (91) and Robinson Wyndham (98).
