KSS golfers set pace in first tournament of season

Kondors beat Dover Bay Dolphins by six strokes

Kwalikum Secondary School’s golf team kicked off the season with a good outing at Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Course on Friday afternoon.

Four schools competed in the first golf tournament of the season, hosted by the Kondors. The other three were the Ballenas Whalers, the Dover Bay Dolphins and Ladysmith Secondary, which only had three players.

The Kondors, led by Aidan Goodfellow’s 74, which helped the team post a collective score of 315, beat the Dover Bay Secondary Dolphins by six strokes.

Only the top four scores from each team are tallied to determine team totals.

The other members of the Kondors team whose scores were counted were Matt Grimes who shot a 79, Alonzo Sabugo (80) and Malte Schraeder (82).

Ballenas finished third with a total score of 358. The Whalers consisted of Ben Roberts who led with an 85, Ethan Harvey 87, Jeff Ham 99, and Anabell Chedore 87, the only female participant.

Dover Bay’s Eli Greene recorded the best individual score of 71 to pace the Dolphins to a second-place finish. Goodfellow and Sasha Farenholtz of Dover Bay tied for the second best score with a 74 followed by Kirit Lal of Dover with 78.
