It took a while, but the wait is finally over.
Kurt Browning has picked April 20, 2012 as the day he will come to Quesnel to present a five-hour seminar to skaters of the Quesnel Figure Skating Club.
“I’m happy we have a date,” QFSC coach Sharon Chow said.
“We will be brainstorming to see how we can make the day a special one.
“It will depend on what we’re allowed to do.”
The QFSC won the seminar by Browning, a four-time Canadian and four-time men’s figure skating champion, in Skate Canada’s Show It Off video contest earlier this year.
The contest, designed to promote Skate Canada’s new logo, asked figure skating clubs across Canada to produce a three-minute video showing how they incorporated the new Skate Canada pennant into their community.
More than 50 figure-skating clubs submitted videos for the Show It Off contest.
The news came last January during the television broadcast of the Canadian Figure Skating Championships.
QFSC members, parents and friends waited nervously in a meeting room at the Quesnel and District Arts and Recreation Centre for more than an hour as they watched the skating championships.
Then during an intermission, Chow, uttered two words, “We won.”
