Kwon, just 16 years old, captured both the juvenile and junior title as he shot three rounds in the 60s.

“I never dreamed I could beat this type of field by that much,” Kwon said in a press release on Friday. “I’ve won by big margins, but not this kind of tournament. This is the highlight of my career so far.”

With a four day total of 272 (71-65-67-69), Kwon beat second place junior finisher Richard Jung of Toronto by 11 strokes, and second place juvenile finisher Donald Qiu of Surrey by 18 strokes.

Kwon, who golfs out of Swan-E-Set Bay Resort and Country Club in Pitt Meadows, shot a second round 65, the best competitive round of his career. Kwon won a pair of gold medals at the B.C. Summer Games last year in the individual and team competitions, and in May, won the Canadian Junior Golf Association’s tour event at Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey with a final round 67. Kwon is off to Kamloops where he will be competing in the Western Canada Summer Games this week.
