Western Speedway revs up the action this week with the Eve of Destruction. The action-packed night features crusher car jumps, van blow-up, Demo Series, Bombers, Claimers, boat races, skid plate races, and a Total Destruction Derby.
Next up Wednesday, July 12 is the Hornet Series, with exciting wheel-to-wheel action on the oval.
The Victoria Shamrocks return to The Q Centre tonight (July 7) to host the Langley Thunder at 7:30 p.m. The ‘Rocks have the rest of the week off, returning next Friday, July 14 to host the Coquitlam Adanacs at 7:30 p.m., which is also HarbourCats Night and Salute to Local Heroes. Fans showing a HarbourCats ticket from a previous game will get a general admission bowl ticket for $10.
And in Junior Victoria Shamrocks play, the local squad finish their regular season at home this weekend, hosting the Delta Islanders Saturday, July 8 at 5 p.m. at The Q Centre.
Not all winter hockey will take place on the ice. Ball hockey fans can now play year-round as Greater Victoria Minor Ball Hockey launches a new drop-in fall/winter ball hockey league at Eagle Ridge Arena. Running Sundays from Sept. 10 to Jan. 28 for players from throughout the region, times will be set aside for players between six and 18 years old (birth years 2011 to 1999). Turning to Div. 1 cricket, Metchosin welcomes the Alcos to the Metchosin pitch for a noon start on Saturday, July 8.
In Div. 2 mid-week cricket play, Metchosin 2 concludes its regular season Tuesday, July 11 with a road trip to face MCC at Windsor Park. Game time is 6 p.m.
