It was a fabulous day for the March Meadows Ladies Amateur Open on August 2.
With 61 competitors, it took over five hours for all participants to complete the nine hole course.
Once again, participants came from all over Vancouver Island.
After the tournament, the women enjoyed a late lunch before trophies and prizes were presented. During this time, Corey Shewchuk, March Meadows director, and Blair Caldwell, CPGA head professional, tallied the scores.
This year’s low-gross winner is Allison Murdoch from Victoria with a score of 77.
“Thank you very much, everybody,” said Murdoch. “It’s such a thrill to come here every year, and so much fun. Just because it’s a nine hole course doesn’t mean that it’s easy.”
This year’s low-net winner is Geri Elchuk, from Mount Brenton in Chemainus.
Elchuk completed the course with a score of 68.
There were 16 prizes given to each woman with a low-gross score below 100, and 17 to those with a low-net score below 80.
Prizes were donated by businesses all over the Cowichan Lake area, and by the pro-shop at March Meadows Golf Course.
Del Gamble organized the event once again this year, and she took a moment to thank all those who volunteered their time, energy, and money into making it happen.
