The Kalamalka Lakers lost 4-0 to the Sa-Hali Sabres of Kamloops in the Okanagan Valley Senior AA Boys Soccer Championships consolation final Saturday at Marshall Field.
Cari Dyck’s crew bowed 6-4 to the Summerland Rockets earlier Saturday, and went into the 3 versus 4 game battered and bruised.
“By this point, we had a very beat-up team with very few subs,” said Dyck, assisted by Jobie Waughman. “The boys played so hard despite injuries and battled for the entire 90 minutes. I was so proud of the boys that they showed such character by never giving up the entire game. It was a great, successful season and with such a young team, I expect to be a strong presence next year.”
The Okanagan Mission Huskies of Kelowna brushed off Summerland in the final. Both teams join the Sabres in the B.C.’s, Nov. 19-21, in Burnaby.
Centre midfielder Lucas Ross scored twice in the Lakers’ loss to Summerland. Menno Burnett and striker Liam Ross added singles in support of Thomas Vandecromenaker.
Kal opened the Valleys Friday with a 6-0 victory over the Westsyde Whundas of Kamloops before losing 3-1 to Okanagan Mission.
