The Kalamalka Lakers missed making provincials the cruel way Wednesday afternoon at Beasley Park in Lake Country.
Kal lost 2-1 (4-3) in penalty kicks to the George Elliot Coyotes of Lake Country and finished fourth at the Okanagan Valley Senior AA Girls Soccer Championships.
The Coyotes took the third Valley berth for the B.C. finals, May 29-30, in Penticton.
Megan Squair scored for Kal, while Kayla Finnie and Paige Ralston got well deserved props for strong play in the middle of the park throughout the tournament.
Earlier Wednesday, the Lakers bowed 2-0 to Penticton’s Princess Margaret Mustangs.
The Lakers had some great chances at the end but couldn’t capitalize.
Standouts for Kal were Squair and Emily Thorlakson up front, captain Vicki Schley on the back line, and keeper Julia Kemper.
Kal placed second in their four-team pool after shading the Sa-Hal Sabres of Kamloops 1-0 and holding off the Westsyde Whundas.
Teigan Moore supplied the goal Tuesday morning against Sa-Hali, while Squair and Ralston converted in the afternoon win.
