Lakers gain pair of ties

The Thompson-Okanagan Lakers recorded a pair of ties and one loss against the Vancouver Island Hurricanes.

Andie Kaneda and Ali Roine, both of Vernon, and Christy Blackburne of West Kelowna handled the scoring in a 3-3 tie Saturday morning. Jenna Fletcher of Vernon had one assist.

Armstrong’s Mairyn Tucker converted from Kaneda in a 1-1 draw Saturday night.

Ts’setkwu Dunstan of Kamloops provided the Laker goal in a 3-1 loss Sunday morning. Emma Gottfriedson of Kamloops was in net for Game 1, while Sydney Carter of Kamloops played the final two tilts at Strathcona Ice Gardens.

The Lakers are fourth at 12-13-5, while the Canes are fifth at 9-15-6.

Coca-Cola crew swept by Rockets

The Coca-Cola Vipers fell 7-2 and 8-4 to the Kelowna Rockets, losing their semifinal Midget Tier 2 series 2-1 after winning the opener by forfeit when no referees showed up Friday in Kelowna.

Brian Ferguson and Jarett Campbell scored in Saturday’s loss at Civic with Conor Webb in goal.

Billy Cawthorn was in net Sunday at the Capital News Centre with things close until the third period. Kyle Sherwood (2), Jeremy Pogue and Ferguson, handled the offence Sunday. It was 4-4 after 40 minutes.

The Vernon Fix Auto Vipers, a Tier 3 Bantam team, forced to play Tier 2 playoff games, bowed 16-0 to the West Kelowna Warriors in a Saturday matinee at Kal Tire Place. West Kelowna swept the series after winning the opener 11-0 Friday night.

Valley Wood falls 8-3 to Kelowna

The Valley Wood Remanufacturing Vipers  lost 8-3 to the Kelowna Jr. Chiefs in Atom Development A league action Saturday.

Nick Noren, Erik Pastro and Brock Holliday led the attack with Scotty Hoffman, Cash Anderson and Bennett Kuhnlein picking up assists. Colten Colmorgen took the loss.
