Lakers junior volleyball teams having strong starts

The Lakers boys and girls volleyball teams are at the top of league standings

The Pen High 10s sit atop the standings of the Junior Boys Volleyball League.

The Lakers  are 4-0 and have won eight sets losing only one. On Thursday at Princess Margaret, the Lakers swept Princeton Secondary 25-16 and 25-9. PSS is now winless in four matches. The Lakers also defeated Princess Margaret in two close sets, 25-22 and 25-23.

The Lakers 9s are 1-3 having won four of their 10 sets. They too swept PSS 25-17 and 25-23, then defeated Summerland Secondary 2-1, losing the first set 25-17 and bouncing back 25-23 and 25-13.

Princess Margaret is 2-2, having won four of their nine sets. They swept Southern Okanagan Secondary 25-16 and 25-19, then losing to the Laker 10s.

SSS is 3-1, SOSS is 2-2 as is Maggie and PSS is looking for their first win.

Lakers 10s remain undefeated

A point differential has Similkameen Elementary Secondary edging out the Pen High junior girls volleyball team for first place.

Both teams swept their games on Thursday to improve to 4-0. SESS defeated Princess Margaret Black 25-20 and 25-23 then defeated the Lakers 9s 25-21 and 25-15. In eight matches, they have scored 200 points, while allowing 157. The Lakers 10s defeated Princeton Secondary 25-18 and 25-13 and brushed aside Princess Margaret Red 25-22 and 25-19. They have scored 213 points, while allowing 171.

The Laker 9s are 2-2 in league play, while Maggie Black is fourth at 1-3, PSS is also 1-3 and Maggie Red is 0-4.
