Lakers shut down PVSS

The Kalamalka Lakers shut down the visiting Pleasant Valley Saints 3-0 in North Zone Senior Girls Soccer League play Thursday afternoon.

The Kalamalka Lakers shut down the visiting Pleasant Valley Saints 3-0 in North Zone Senior Girls Soccer League play Thursday afternoon.

Julia Kemper was solid in goal for the Lakers and bounced back from a hard shoulder knock in the first half to claim her second shutout in as many games.

A first-half goal from Emily Thorlakson gave the Lakers confidence but they really hit their stride in the second half, hitting the woodwork twice before Paige Ralston curled in a fine effort from 25 yards.

Megan Squair completed the scoring late in the game, putting the finish on a nice run of passing with a low, hard shot that found the bottom, right corner.

The Fulton Maroons grounded the VSS Panthers Thursday at Grahame Park. No results were reported.

In play next Thursday, the Panthers bost the Lakers at Marshall Field (3 p.m.), while the Maroons visit Pleasant Valley (4 p.m.).
