Lakers sweep three from Wildcats

Thompson Okanagan evens season record with wins over Kootenay in B.C. female AAA hockey action

The Thompson Okanagan Lakers hit the Christmas break with some momentum on their side in B.C. Female Midget AAA Hockey League play.

The Lakers are coming off a three-game sweep of the Kootenay Wildcats last weekend in Nelson.

On Friday night, the Lakers scored a 3-0 win, with Sydney Carter posting the shutout.

Ali Roine scored twice in the win, while Kelowna’s Christy Blackburne added a pair of assists.

On Saturday Dec. 20, T.O. edged the Wildcats 4-3. Roine scored a hat-trick, with Blackburne picking up an assist.

On Sunday, the Lakers wrapped up the series with a 3-2 win. Blackburne scored one of the goals for a four-point weekend.

The Rockets (11-11-2) are in fourth spot in the B.C. league, one point back of Fraser Valley.

Thompson Okanagan will return to action Jan. 9 to 11 in Vernon as the Lakers host the West Coast Avalanche for a three-game set.

The Lakers consist of players from Kelowna, West Kelowna, Vernon, Armstrong, Salmon Arm, Enderby, Kamloops and Coldstream.
