Langley, Aldergrove seniors return from 55-Plus BC Games with medals in tow

Vernon hosts 30th edition of event

The results are in from the 55-Plus BC Games in Vernon –– and Langley athletes came home with armfuls of hardware.

This year celebrated the 30th anniversary of the games, which featured more than 3,500 competitors ranging in age from 55 to 90-plus, who competed in 27 sports and activities from Sept. 12 to 16.

Medal winners from Langley and Aldergrove included:

Swimming

Joy Hargreaves (Women 70-74): gold 400m freestyle and 800m freestyle; bronze 25m backstroke and 50m backstroke; silver 50m backstroke; and gold as a member of the Fraser Valley women’s 4 x 25m relay team, and mixed 4 x 50m relay team

Cribbage

Steve Clark and Charles Wong (Men and Women 55+ Pairs): bronze

Edward and Jean Wagstaff (Men and Women 55+ Mixed Fours): silver
