The Vancouver Stealth announced today that the team and their fans have raised $39,260 for the Lacrosse on the Move Fund in 2016. The total amount is from 50-50 sales, the Stealth Jersey Auction and private donations. The total raised over the last three seasons for this fund is $104,013.
“We have enjoyed a fantastic partnership between the BC Lacrosse Association and the Vancouver Stealth over the past three seasons and look forward to many more years of working together to promote lacrosse in the province of B.C.,” said Rochelle Winterton, executive director of the BC Lacrosse Association.
“The Lacrosse on the Move Fund has been created to provide community teams with grants when traveling to box and field provincial championships as well as to some Team BC athletes who might not otherwise be able to afford travel to national championships. We continue to be extremely grateful for the generous support that the Vancouver Stealth and lacrosse fans have contributed to the Lacrosse on the Move Fund.”
Stealth president and general manager Doug Locker has been pleased with the support Stealth fans have shown towards the Lacrosse on the Move Fund since 2014.
“Our relationship with the BC Lacrosse Association over the last three years has been a special one and we are thankful to our fans who have made it possible for us to provide these funds to the Lacrosse on the Move Fund,” Locker said. “These funds make it possible for B.C. athletes to play the game they love at the highest level of competition and we are proud to play a part in helping to provide the funding to make these opportunities possible,” said Locker.
The Stealth remain in the playoff hunt and have two road games left on the 2016 regular season schedule.
On Friday, they play the Colorado Mammoth and on Saturday, the Stealth visit the Georgia Swarm.
