The Langley Events Centre has submitted a bid to host the B.C. senior AAA provincial basketball championships.
The bid is a joint effort with Basketball B.C.
The deadline for submissions was Sept. 15 and if successful, the Langley Events Centre would host the tournament March 6-9, 2013.
A decision on the future of the tournament’s location is expected by the end of October.
The 2012 tournament will be held at North Vancouver’s Capilano University — formerly Capilano College.
This will be the 19th consecutive year it has been held in North Vancouver but the contract is due to expire following the 2012 tournament.
The Events Centre has the AAA senior boys’ provincial basketball tournament through the 2015 year. And beginning this March, the junior girls’ championships will be held at the LEC.
Should the bid for the senior girls tournament be successful, the 2013 junior girls tournament would be moved forward one week with all three tournaments running consecutively.
