Langley driver takes part in Mission Raceway fundraiser

Drivers will raise money for a hospice society with by-donation laps in sports cars.

A Langley man will be one of the riders in a fundraising race for the Mission Hospice Society on the July 15 to 16 weekend.

Phil Roney will drive his #95 Swift DB2 sports racer at Mission Raceway Park during the Sports Car Club of B.C.’s (SCCBC) charity race weekend.

Racers will come from around B.C., Alberta, and Washington State for the weekend of racing and fundraising.

Roney is currently in first place in the SCCBC sports racing championship standings and hopes to add to his lead with three races over the weekend.

The weekend events will feature races for all classes, including modified sedans and sports cars, open-wheel formula cars and sports racing cars. There will be a vintage race car competition on Sunday.

Funds will be raised in a variety of events over the weekend, including via “hot laps” in exotic sports cars, by donation.
