Two tournament appearances have equated into a pair of gold medals for the Langley atom Eagles.
Members of the Langley Eagles A1 hockey team might want to consider renaming themselves the Langley Golden Eagles, based on their stellar performances so far this season.
The Eagles once again soared to victory last month as they claimed gold at the Abbotsford Atom Rep Christmas Tournament.
The Eagles began the tournament with two decisive wins; a 10-6 victory over the Abbotsford A1 Hawks, and a 5-0 shutout against Kamloops A1.
Day two of round robin play proved to be more challenging for the Eagles.
Langley and Chilliwack battled it out, and ended the game with a 1-1 tie.
Then, the Eagles experienced their only defeat of the tournament at the hands of the Coquitlam Chiefs, losing 4-3.
At the conclusion of round robin play, the Eagles finished in top spot, landing them a spot in the finals.
Rebounding from a difficult second day, the Eagles pulled together as a team and skated away with the gold medal after a 7-1 triumph over the host
Abbotsford Hawks in the championship game.
This marks the Eagles’ second gold medal in as many tournaments this season.
