Tanika Dolfo of Langley Fundamental Middle and Secondary will be heading to California after she graduates on a track scholarship.
Dolfo has signed with the Azusa Pacific University Cougars in Los Angeles.
Currently a Grade 12 student, Dolfo has medalled multiple times at the B.C. High School Championships and in the Canadian National Youth Track and Field Championships in the hammer throw.
She was ranked the No. 2 youth hammer thrower in the four kilogram category this year, with a toss of 51.30 metres. That mark was the sixth best in North America in her age category.
At Azusa Pacific, she will be coached by former 1992 US Olympian Mike Barnett. Barnett coached 2008 Beijing gold medal decathlete Bryan Clay.
“I can’t wait to watch her compete in a Cougar uniform,” said Barnett.
