Langley cyclist Svein Tuft finished the Giro d’Italia, one of the three Grand Tour cycling races, on May 28.

Tuft, a rider with the Orica-Scott team, finished 142nd overall out of a field of 161 finishing riders, but 20th on the final day of racing.

The last day of the 21-stage race was an individual time trial, and the race wrapped up on the streets of Milan. Tuft is a time trial specialist, and the nine-time Canadian time trial champion. He has also competed in the Tour de France.

The race began May 5 and included three rest days. Riders were challenged with hills, mountains, flat stages that favoured sprinters, and two time trial days.
