The weather has warmed up as January progressed — and so have the Langley Rivermen.

Sunday afternoon’s 5-2 triumph over the Powell River Kings in front of 795 fans at the George Preston Recreation Centre (GPRC) marked the Rivermen’s fifth win in a row.

As well, the ’Men have won six of their seven games so far this month.

With a 22-15-5-2 mark, Langley sits alone in third place in the B.C. Hockey League’s ultra-competitive Mainland Division.

Against the Kings, five players found the net for the Rivermen, who led 2-1 after 40 minutes before outscoring the visitors 3-1 during the third period.

Goalie Bo Didur made 29 saves to record his 14th win of the season.

The Rivermen will be tested Wednesday when they host the Mainland-leading Wenatchee Wild at the GPRC.

Game time is 7:15 p.m.

The Wild boast a league-best 35-6-4 record, and Wenatchee forwards Brendan Harris and Charlie Combs are one-two in league scoring.
