Langley’s swim club made a splash at a Victoria competition April 28 to 30.
The Langley Olympians Swim Club competed at the 15th Annual Wavemaker Invitational. LOSC had 27 swimmers compete.
In total the team placed first in 25 events, second in 18 events and third in 21 events.
“The weekend was filled with excellent racing and countless best times,” said head coach Brian Metcalfe.
Selina Schmelcher, 12, achieved her first Canadian Western Championships qualifying time and her first Canadian Junior Championships qualifying time in the women’s 200-metre butterfly with a time of 2:37.15. Tyler Friesen, 11, is now qualified to compete at the 2017 BC AA Long Course Championships in six events (50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke & 200m individual medley).
Isobel McNeill blasted through three of her existing girls 10&U club records and broke a new club record from 2009. Isobel’s updated records include the girls 10&U 100m backstroke (1:18.62), 200m backstroke (2:47.69), 400m IM (5:50.52) and her new club record in the 200m IM with a time of 2:50.52.
