Late rally pushes Falcons past Kitsap

Kelowna scores three in the ninth for ninth win of West Coast League baseball season

The Kelowna Falcons pulled off an exciting ninth inning, come-from-behind victory on Thursday night, beating the Kitsap Bluejackets 3-2 in West Coast League action at Elks Stadium.

Down 2-0 going into the bottom of ninth the Falcons would score three times to record their ninth win of the season.

After Chandler Tracy began the inning with a leadoff double, he would score on Grayson Porter’s pinch hit single.

Two batters later Kelowna native Dawson Yates in his first game in the West Coast League would drive in Porter with a single to centre.  Yates would move to into scoring position at second base on a throw to home when Porter scored.

Two pitches later Jarryd Klemm would knock in Yates with another single to centerfield to complete the comeback win.

In his debut, Yates was 2-4, drove in the tying run scored the winning run.

Preston Gray was terrific in his start, throwing 7.1 innings, scattering nine hits and allowing just one earned run.  Scotland Church made his first appearance on the bump and recorded the win, facing five batters and striking out four of them.

The Falcons and Bluejackets will play Game 2 of the three game series tonight at Elks Stadium.  Caleb Olson will get the start, with the first pitch set for 6:35pm.
