Opening day at the Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club is Sunday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. Come and join us in the ritual of walking around the green and hoisting the flag to welcome the good weather to stay with us for the season.
Membership is $105 for the year for unlimited bowling until end of September. And I heard all the baked goods are being brought in, so make sure you get here for a sample.
For new bowlers, the coaches are available all next week to get you familiarized with the game. Our first social evening will be a trivia night on Saturday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 per person, including tea, coffee and snacks. Prizes to the top three teams at the end of the night. See you all out there.
Games chair Pete Harding has the sign-up sheets for club events all ready to go and the events will start earlier this year. We have part of April to get the kinks of sedentary winter straightened out so those starting dates are on the sign-up sheets.
First Open tournament will be in Nanaimo on May 4-5 and Courtenay has Vern Greenhill, Pat Cutt and Irene Whitehouse entering Mixed Triples teams. 2013 is the Nanaimo club’s 90 birthday, so I am sure that all events at that venue will be very special. Nanaimo is also hosting the Provincial Ladies Fours in July as well as all of the other Open events that they normally do. Best of Luck to them.
Bowls BC has a new website starting up at bowlsbc.com, check it out and watch it grow.
