Legends tie, win

The North Okanagan Legends recorded a tie and win against the host Kamloops Rattlers in a Bantam B doubleheader Saturday at Memorial Arena.

The North Okanagan Legends recorded a tie and win against the host Kamloops Rattlers in a Bantam B  doubleheader Saturday at Memorial Arena.

The first game was a seesaw affair ending 6-6 with Kamloops scoring the tying goal with 30 seconds left.

Rowan Miller rung up four goals and Caedon Bellman bagged a deuce for the Legends.

A couple hours later, Kamloops prevailed 7-3 with Bellman, Nathaniel Foster and Jordie Scherck counting snipes for North Okanagan.

Meanwhile, the Armstrong Shamrocks face the host Kelowna Raiders in season-opening senior C lacrosse play Friday night at Memorial Arena.

On Saturday night the Shamrocks host their home opener versus the Kamloops Rattlers  (7 p.m.) at the Nor-Val Arena.

“We are very excited going into the year, we have been getting great turnouts at practice, we had a successful pre-season, and we are ready to roll” said Irish GM/goalie Chad Pieper.

The Shamrocks have a lot a new faces in the dressing room this year, we have added 3 Armstrong Junior Shamrocks graduates Cartson Schlaak, Sheldon Nelson, and Nathan Marcetta, and we have also added former Vernon Tigers Rob Rintoul, Tyler Plante, and Gord Schnare. A couple of fresh rookies on the team have also improved greatly since they have come out they are Kyle Fors, and Clayton Schlaak.

The Rocks return a solid core of veterans, team captain Chad Pounder, Steve Clark, Jarrett Medhurst, Brennan Plante, Kyle Versteeg, Devin Rodger, Shaun Koenig, and Kriss Yargeau. Chad Pieper also returns to tend the goal for the Irish this year.
