If you’re feeling a little lucky when you crawl out of bed on Saturday, June 1, head on over to the Chief Will-Yum Campsite.
Williams Lake’s Rolland Harry, who manages the Young Nations youth hockey club, is hosting a lehal tournament June 1-2 at the campground.
Played between two teams of four or more players facing each other, the object of lehal is to guess which player on the opposing team is holding a set of bones while players attempt to distract one another.
Traditionally, the game was played to celebrate at powwows and gatherings, and used to remember the dead.
Registration begins June 1 at 10 a.m., followed by draws at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament’s first game at 12:30 p.m.
There will be 50/50 draws, raffle draws, a loonie auction and a concession available.
Arts and crafts tables are available for $10, but require vendors to bring their own tables.
Registration for the tournament is $225 per team with $50 going toward the team fundraiser.
Harry stressed the tournament is a drug- and alcohol-free event.
