Everytime Vernon Kokanee Meredith Levorson hit the wall in the 2014 Swim B.C. AAA Age Group Championships in Kamloops, she made history.

Everytime Vernon Kokanee Meredith Levorson hit the wall in the 2014 Swim B.C. AAA Age Group Championships in Kamloops last weekend, she made history.

Competing in the girls 15 and under class, Levorson pocketed one gold, one silver and three bronze medals while setting five new club records.

Levorson won a gold in the 200-metre freestyle with a personal best two minutes, 4.74 seconds and struck silver in the 50-m freestyle with a PB 26.70. She bagged bronze medals in the 100 back, in 1:05.42, 200 back, in 2:19.51 and 100 free, in 57.82, all with personal best times and new Kokanee marks.

“It was a stellar performance for Meredith,” said Kokanee coach Renate Terpstra. “The Kokanee finished 22nd out of the 41 B.C. Teams with 318 points, just behind the Kelowna Aqua Jets (343 points), but ahead of KISU swim club from Penticton (275 points) and Liquid Lightning Swim Club from West Kelowna (274).”

Levorson, Joshua Phillips, Kaia Phillips, Gaku Fujikawa, Wouter Terpstra and Kiah Lee are in the Western Canadian Championships, Feb. 13-16, in New Westminster.

Other Kokanee results: Girls 11 & under: Kelsey Fillion made finals in the 100 free with a PB 1:08.64, and finished sixth.

Boys 13 & under: Zac Benn won a gold medal in the 200 fly with a PB 2:22.92 and was third in the 100 fly with a PB 1:03.74.

Boys 16-18: Joshua Phillips finished eighth in the 400  IM final, in 4:44.30.

Both Erin Brown, 13, and Benn, 13, posted 100 per cent personal best times.
