The Comox Valley Glacier Kings announced Tuesday that Affiliate Player Liam Shaw from the Comox Valley will permanently join the lineup.

Shaw was called up by the ‘Kings several times throughout the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League season and had the biggest offensive production out of all affiliates.

In seven games with the Yetis this season he scored three goals and one assist.

Shaw, who was recalled from the North Island Silvertips of the B.C. Major Midget League, produced 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 40 games in his second season with the North Island’s top midget team.

A native of the Comox Valley, Shaw makes the official transition from a lifelong Glacier Kings fan to a full-time member of the organization.  “I’ve been watching this team since I was six years old.  To be able to join this club at this stage in the season, it’s a dream come true,” he said.

Glacier Kings’ head coach Bill Rotheisler is excited to see Shaw in the blue and burgundy. “This was the logical next step for both Liam and the organization. Not only is Liam a talented young player, his contagious character and pride for this particular club is unprecedented. He is going to be a big part of this organization continuing on.”

Game four of the North Island Division finals with the Nanaimo Buccaneers is Tuesday night at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.  Game time is 7:30 p.m.
