The Whalley Little League all-stars had little trouble sweeping three games to win the Junior Provincials in Coquitlam.
Their first game was a 14-4 victory over Lynn Valley on July 20. Three days later, they toppled Mt. Seymour to get to the final.
Playing for a berth at the Junior Little League Canadian Championship, Whalley had two chances to win one game.
They didn’t need the second chance, clinching the provincial title last Thursday (July 25) with an 11-4 win that eliminated Mt. Seymour from the double-knockout playoff.
Whalley is at the national championship tournament this week in Lethbridge, Alberta.
They began play Wednesday at a seven-team, nine-day competition which will send the Canadian champion to the World Series tournament in Taylor, Michigan.
The B.C. champion has won 14 of the past 20 Junior Little League national championship tournaments. Five of those titles were won by teams from Whalley Little League, the most recent in 2011.
