Approximately 60 people took part in the 12th annual Loaded Throwdown on Shames Mountain on Saturday.
The event, put on by Loaded Sports, involves skiing and snowboarding competitions for many different age categories.
“We had some really talented contestants in some of the older divisions, like 17 to 30, between those age divisions we had some really cool stuff being done,” said Marc Page, who owns Loaded Sports and organizes the throwdown.
The fun started around noon and wrapped up shortly after 4 p.m., which was a record for the events.
“It was probably the most organized throwdown that we’ve had. Normally, we’re giving out prizes by about five-o-clock, but I think we were giving them out by 4:15 this time so to save 45 minutes by the end of the day is to say you did something better than last time,” Page said.
Cody Essay won the Men’s 20+ Ski, Christian Doyle won the Men’s 30+ Snowboard and Chance Healey took home the Men’s 30+ Ski title in the older age categories.
In the younger men’s divisions, Briar Zipps won the 16-17 Ski, Damian Tetz was first in the 18-19 Ski and Lee Miller dominated the 17-29 Snowboard contest.
On the women’s side, Morgan Foisy (20-25 Ski), Angie Healey (30+ Ski), Ellen Christensen (20-30 Snowboard) and Ryah Bell (9-13 Snowboard) took home top honours.
