Local golfers miss top 10

Abbotsford golfers James Lepp and Nick Taylor had a tough time at the  Times Colonist Island Savings Open golf championship in Victoria last weekend.

The locals were paired in the final round, with Lepp shooting a 4-under 66 on the final day to push him into a five-way tie for 17th place. Taylor came in 22nd.

Meanwhile, Adam Hadwin, who was second on the money list heading into the tournament, missed the cut after two rounds of 73.

Only one Canadian finished in the top 10, Dustin Risdon of Alberta, who finished in third place at 10-under-par.

Mexico’s Jose de Jesus Rodriguez shot 4-under-par on Sunday for a four-round total of 267, picking up the win and $32,000.

The next Tour stop is in Kamloops, June 9 to 12 at the Rivershore Estates and Golf Links.
