It was quite a trip for Okanagan Gymnastics Centre member Shane Hiscock, who claimed a couple of different titles at the Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships in Winnipeg.

The 12-year-old Hiscock claimed the Western Canadian championship in the level 4 male category despite the fact he was competing against many gymnasts who were older than he was.

Along with the overall title, Hiscock earned the title of Western Canadian vault champion as well and took home silver medals on floor exercise and on the still rings.

The Kelowna native was joined by coach Norihiko Horie, and three teammates from Okanagan Gymnastics Centre, who all travelled to Winnipeg last weekend to compete at the Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships.

Other results from the OGC competitors included a team silver medal.

Lucas Fabian also competed in the Level 4 competition and both Fabian and Hiscock were part of Team BC’s Level 4 team that won the silver medal in the team competition.

Liam Dawson competed in National Youth category and earned a bronze medal on the floor exercise.

Kolten Marino accompanied the team to Winnipeg, but was unable to compete in the National Youth competition due to a back injury.

Team B.C.’s National Youth team won the gold medal in the team event. Team B.C. finished with a 294.70 total which is 24.00 points ahead of Team Alberta who earned the silver medal, while Team Saskatchewan finished only 0.60 points behind Alberta.
