The Prince George Tier 2 squad came to town last weekend for a pair of games, and earned a split with the 100 Mile Sport Shop Midget Reps.
Saturday night saw a lot of 100 Mile supporters in the stands and they were treated to an entertaining, fast-paced and very clean contest.
100 Mile took an early lead on an unassisted goal by Matt Pistell after he stole the puck in the Prince George end, raced up ice and snapped it home.
On a power play early in the second period, Duncan Wallace made a nice pass back to the point where Micky Turner hammered a slap shot over the shoulder of the screened Prince George goalie to go up 2-0.
Late in the middle stanza, the visitors caught the defence standing still and made a nice passing play in front for their first tally. The teams went to the dressing rooms with 100 Mile leading 2-1.
The Prince George squad came out strong in the third and quickly evened the score.
The play was very even throughout the third, but Kevin Raimundo was able to penetrate the defence and fed Michael Montgomery the puck for the go-ahead tally. The remainder of the period saw end-to-end action, but the 100 Mile boys managed to hold on for the victory.
100 Mile goaltender Sean Galarneau was outstanding in this game making many key saves to preserve the win.
Sunday morning was a different story, as the 100 Mile boys came out flat and remained that way most of the game.
They couldn’t find their game and got behind early, eventually losing 8-2. Mark Boyce had both goals in the losing cause.
