A pair of local soccer players spent last week in Vaughn, Ontario at the Canadian Women’s National EXCEL camp.
Defender Simmrin Dhaliwal and goalkeeper Priya Sandhu were among the 20 players invited to the five-day camp, which included a variety of skills sessions and testing. Players attending the camp are eligible for the U20 national team which will compete at the U20 Women’s World Cup in 2016.
Dhaliwal attended her first national youth program event in 2012, and went on to win a silver medal with Canada at the CONCACAF Women’s U17 championship in Jamaica. She also played for Canada at the U17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in earlier this year.
Sandhu played 18 games for the Simon Fraser University Clan this past fall, posting a 2.49 goals against average with two shutouts.
