The Oceanside Peewee Thunderbirds were in Campbell River over the holidays for some tournament action on the ice.

The tournament took place Dec. 27-29 and saw a good showing from the Thunderbirds as they managed to come away with a silver medal after a closely contested final game against the Campbell River Eagles.

The Thunderbirds went 2–1–1 in round robin play, beating the Campbell River Wolverines and a team from Comox to advance to the final against the Campbell River Eagles.

The final was a close game all the way to the end with the Thunderbirds pulling their goalie late to try and tie it up but they ran out of time and ended up dropping the final 6–5, settling for a well earned second place finish.
