Local referees invited to B.C. Hockey Program of Excellence

Connor McCracken and Brennan Walker travel to Shawnigan Lake in mid-July for a performance camp.

Chilliwack’s Connor McCracken and Agassiz’s Brennan Walker are among B.C.’s best young hockey referees, and have been invited into B.C. Hockey’s Officiating Program of Excellence.

McCracken, Walker and six of their peers will travel to Shawnigan Lake July 12-16 for an elite high-performance camp.

They will receive instruction from National Hockey League officiating manager Ken Wheler and B.C. Hockey director of officiating Sean Raphael.

They’ll put what they learn into practice on the ice, officiating games between 40 of the best U-16 hockey players who will be attending their own camp in Shawnigan Lake that week. That group includes Chilliwack native and Chilliwack Chiefs recruit Ethan Bowen.
