The Tom Shypitka rink of Cranbrook won the Senior Men’s Kootenay Curling Championship recently at the Invermere Curling Club.

Shypitka and team went undefeated in the open championship with a 5 and 0 record including a convincing victory in the final against the Darren Will Rink of Fernie 7-0 in only 4 ends of play.

“It was a very successful weekend and I would like to thank the Invermere Curling Club for being excellent hosts and the Darren Will Rink for also having a great weekend and reaching the final,” said Shypitka. “The East Kootenays have always provided great teams and this weekend proved that fact. The team is very excited to representing the Kootenays and winning the provincial Championships.”

The Shypitka foursome won the right to represent the Kootenays at the Senior Men’s Provincial Championships slated for Salmon Arm in February.
